Klimas Wkręt-met and Wroclaw Silence Zone

A small object made of OSB recently stood in Wroclaw. “Shell”, an important element of the project “Wroclaw Silent Zone”, providing an asylum for students and residents who need to cut themselves off from the sounds of the big city for a while.

This is another initiative of Wroclaw students that we decided to support, so our screws are responsible for connecting the elements of the “Shell”. Properly designed and protected (with mineral wool, EPDM membrane), the structure is an effective barrier against ambient sounds. Preliminary acoustic tests conducted by the AES Wrocław Student Section showed that the level of background sounds is almost twice as low as in the library. This type of initiative is particularly important in today’s reality, in which on the one hand we are faced with an excess of stimuli, and on the other we are increasingly aware of the neurodiversity and diversified needs of individuals.

The pavilion was built as part of the FAST project, financed by the Wrocław Academic Center and with the support of the Wrocław University of Technology, with which Klimas Wkręt-met is also cooperating on a project to build temporary homes for victims of war and climate disasters.
